Study Мisit of Students to the Enterprise in Uzhhorod

On December 4, 2025, as part of the courses Fundamentals of Ecology and Human Ecology, first-year students of the Secondary Education: Geography program, together with Associate Professor of the Department of Physical Geography and Rational Nature Management, PhD in Biology Iryna Feketa, visited “Zakarpattia Recyclable Materials” LLC in Uzhhorod.

The students learned about the company’s operations, presented by the head of the organization, Ruslan Shvarts. They were able to observe firsthand how waste is collected and sorted — including paper, plastic, polyethylene, and glass. This is only the first stage of the long recycling chain, which continues with further processing at specialized plants where new materials are produced from the collected waste.

They were also introduced to the activities within the Call Action project, the EcoBus initiative, and the organization’s future plans for achieving project goals.

The purpose of the visit was to reinforce students’ theoretical knowledge of ecology, deepen their practical skills, and familiarize them with the technological stages of environmentally responsible waste management.

Sustainable development is closely linked to waste management, as effective handling of waste is essential for maintaining the balance between economic growth, social well-being, and environmental preservation — preventing resource depletion and pollution for future generations.
