Main Several Tons of Recyclable Materials Sent for Processing in the Turie-Remety Community

Another batch of sorted waste has recently been sent for recycling in the Turie-Remety territorial community. The initiative was implemented through cooperation between the community and Zakarpatekvtorsyrovyna LLC, represented by Ruslan Shvarts.

For several months now, the community has been operating a selective waste collection system. Earlier, a hydraulic press and special containers for waste separation were installed to support the process. The equipment was provided as part of the Callaction environmental project, implemented in cooperation with Diageo and PET Kupa.

The initiative enables local residents to sort waste and send it for recycling, thereby reducing the amount of garbage that could otherwise end up along roadsides, in drainage ditches, on fields, or in local streams.

This time, a significant amount of recyclable materials was collected and sent for processing, including:

  • nearly 3.5 tonnes of glass cullet
  • about 100 kg of polyethylene film
  • more than 200 kg of paper
  • over 250 kg of tin cans
  • approximately 150 kg of PET bottles


All materials were collected by residents, sorted, and compacted before being transported for recycling.

Local representatives note that the development of a waste-sorting system is already producing visible results. A substantial share of waste is now being recycled instead of ending up in the natural environment.

At the same time, the issue of illegal waste dumping remains a challenge. Community representatives encourage residents to act responsibly in waste management, separate recyclable materials, and support environmental initiatives.

The Turie-Remety community emphasizes that only joint efforts can help maintain clean settlements and protect the surrounding environment.
