Eco-Cleanup in Shakhtynskyi Forest: Together for a Cleaner Environment

As part of a growing tradition, the NGO Green Varosh, together with its partners — the Center for Innovation and Development of Uzhhorod National University — held another eco-cleanup event, “Clean Up – Sort” ♻️

Around 50 participants spent two hours cleaning up a littered area of the Botanical Garden in the Shakhtynskyi Forest. All collected waste was immediately sorted into separate fractions and handed over to the Eco Bus from the Secondary Raw Materials Collection Station “Proektna, 3”. The station has been a consistent partner in such initiatives, contributing both through educational activities and by accepting recyclables such as plastic, paper, and glass.

Organizers thank the students and residents who joined the cleanup. This work is crucial, as litter left in nature takes decades — sometimes centuries — to decompose.

A bottle, a bag, or even a cigarette butt can remain an environmental problem for generations. Unfortunately, some people still bring trash into parks and forests, disregarding both the damage caused and the respect owed to the places where they live.

In a conscious society, people understand the true value of responsible behavior toward the environment. Protecting nature is not a one-time effort but a systematic process that requires responsibility from each of us every day.
